Day 18 Recap
Finally home today. We drove straight home, stopping only for gas a couple times and Sonic once. My drink spilled all over the floor before I could drink any of it; it actually wasn’t my fault either.
After I had dropped Aaron off, I stopped by Culver’s to try to get an ice cream cake. They didn’t have either kind that I wanted, so I headed back to my car disappointed…without my keys. I hadn’t planned to lock my car, so I just set my keys down inside the car before going inside. At the last minute though I decided to lock my car. It was no big deal because I had a spare key underneath the car that we’d already used once on the trip. I reached under to grab it, but it was gone. I don’t know how long it had been gone, but I’m guessing it fell off on our backcountry trip toward Yellowstone two weeks earlier. That was actually the day I locked the keys in the car the first time. If it had happened at any other time, we would have been in trouble.
I didn’t have a cell phone anymore, so I had to find a phone to have my mom bring me a key. What a way to end the trip. Nine thousand miles ends in my mom bringing me a key.
